Check out great photos of my recent performance as Florence Vassy in Soulstice Theatre’s production of Chess by clicking on Gallery at the top of this site, then Chess. Courtesy of Mark Frohna, FroPhoto. They are absolutely beautiful! Having fantastically talented leading men didn’t hurt. Appearing with me in many of these pics is Patrick Fennelly as Freddie Trumper (cream suit) and Brian Myers as Anatoly Sergievsky (dark suit).

Coming soon. . .an exciting announcement!

“What a scene, what a joy, what a lovely sight! When my game is the big sensation!” from CHESS

Soulstice Theatre’s production of CHESS, in which I am playing Florence Vassy, opens this weekend!  Love, loss, and 1960s-era espionage take center stage as the three main players (Freddie Trumper, American challenger for the world chess champion title; Anatoly Sergievsky, the somewhat reluctant Russian world champion; and Florence Vassy, Trumper’s second and Sergievsky’s eventual lover) struggle to overcome the political and personal limits that doom their happiness from the very start.

The talent represented in this ensemble cast—musical, vocal, and dramatic—cannot be overstated and I am so incredibly proud to be a part of it.  The score (composed by the guys from 1980s pop supergroup ABBA) ranges from sweet lyricism to pulsating retro pop. Don’t miss what will be one of the finest musical theatre performances this summer in Milwaukee! For more information, or to reserve tickets, visit http://www.soulsticetheatre.org/index.php. Show runs Fridays-Saturdays July 29 through August 14.

Congratulations to students Katie Phillips, who was accepted to Interlochen Arts Academy with a merit scholarship, and Holland White, who will be doing an internship this fall with First Stage Children’s Theatre Academy!  Katie is currently participating in a pre-professional opera workshop in Oklahoma, while Holland is performing in the ensemble of my production of Chess at Soulstice Theatre.

Rehearsals for Chess at Soulstice Theatre begin this week! I’m so looking forward to playing the role of Florence.  The music, composed by the guys from ABBA, is a fantastic mix of pop and classical influences. The story: a love triangle inspired by the the very real political intrigues of Cold War-era chess matches. Show opens last week of July. Can’t wait! It’s gonna be great! This fall, I’ll be doing the role of Joan in the 9/11 drama The Guys with CodaDiva Productions.  More on that later.

Pink Banana Theatre Company’s One-Act Festival of new plays by local and national playwrights, “Sex, Drugs, & the American Way”, opens tonight at the Off Broadway theatre in downtown Milwaukee. As a featured playwright (my monologue Truck Stop is in the first act) I got a sneak peek at the show last night. It’s great! Funny, fast, and full of creative energy. Named one of the top five things to do in Milwaukee this weekend by Milwaukee Magazine columnist Paul Kosidowski. Congratulations to students Marielle Schuchardt, who will be performing with the Mill Street Singers in Plymouth, WI this summer, and also to Katie Phillips, who was cast in the lead role of Fiona in Sheboygan Theatre Company’s upcoming production of Brigadoon! Way to go, ladies!

My current acting endeavor, “It’s Your Mother!”, opens this week at the Boulevard Theatre in BayView. It’s a real privilege to be a part of this show! The two authors of this play, which premiered in New York in 2009, will be present at some of the performances. I’m playing several different mothers. Take a look at this Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article for information about tickets, show times, and some “maternal”  history.

Check out new pics from Off the Wall’s Macbeth, in which I played Witch #1, in the Gallery section of my website! These moody photos capture the dark spirit of our production and are courtesy of Benjamin Vis (who also took the Company shots you’ll find elsewhere in the gallery).
